__Tests & Quizzes in IB Biology 2__

FORM: Formative

The formative category is worth 0% of the class grade. The daily quiz scores for units that we have learned in class will be recorded in this category on a daily basis. Students will see their raw quiz score (for example 2 out of 5) but the raw scores are not included in the class grade. The raw scores are meant to be informative, to let the student practice with IB questions and reflect on their knowledge of the material. There are no retakes of daily quizzes. At the midterm and end of term grading periods, the overall cumulative percentage for the formative category is used to determine one half of the score for the quiz category grade.

QZTS: Quiz/Test

The quiz/test category is worth 0% of the class grade. The scores for end of unit quizzes will be recorded in this category. Students will see their raw quiz score (for example 18 out of 30) but the raw scores are not included in the class grade. Students may retake a unit quiz if they scored less than 78% of the points possible on the quiz. At the midterm and end of term grading periods, the overall cumulative percentage for the quiz/test category is used to determine one half of the the score for the quiz category grade.

The tests and papers category is worth 0% of the class grade. The raw scores for the summative tests given at the end of each grading quarter are recorded in this category. There are three test papers each quarter and the raw score for each will be included in this category but is not included as a part of the class grade. There are no retakes of summative tests. At the end of the quarter, the overall cumulative percentage for the tests and papers category is used to determine the test category grade.
